Malinali Yuma García Díaz was born in 1989 in Guelatao de Juárez, in the Sierra Juárez of Oaxaca, and grew up inside her village’s cultural movement; she is the daughter of Víctor García, of the Trova Serrana and of the organisation defending the sierra’s natural resources. She paints on black grounds — oil, acrylic, textile and street art — and her work brings together sacred geometry, traditional medicine and indigenous mythology. In 2023 she won the competition for the official image of the Guelaguetza with «El festejo de Centéotl». Between 2025 and 2026 the Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños presented «Malinali», later touring Europe, and in February 2026 she presented in Paris, with Éditions Belin, illustrated pages on Oaxacan art for French secondary students.
