Puebla, 1908 — Mexico City, 1988. In 1923 he worked alongside the caricaturist Ernesto García Cabral in the Excélsior workshop, and between 1924 and 1928 studied at the Academia de San Carlos with Germán Gedovius, Sóstenes Ortega and Raziel Cabildo. He painted his first murals in 1926 in primary schools of the Ministry of Education. Recommended by Diego Rivera in 1930, between 1933 and 1941 he painted the murals of the Mexican Embassy in Washington — now the Mexican Cultural Institute — on themes ranging from «México precolombino» to «México industrial»; in 2018 they were restored by the INAH’s ENCRyM. Invited by Lázaro Cárdenas, he painted in Michoacán between 1935 and 1938: the Gallery of Illustrious Citizens in the Morelia government palace, the Casa Eréndira in Pátzcuaro and the house at Jiquilpan.
