He was born in Guadalajara in 1920 and died in Mexico City in 2006. He trained in the «Evolución» workshop of Francisco Rodríguez «Caracalla». Painter, sculptor and printmaker, he designed sets and costumes for the group Poesía en Voz Alta, founded in 1956, and lived twice in Rome: first from 1951 and again between 1969 and 1975. In 1966 he presented his first major sculpture exhibition at the Palacio de Bellas Artes; in 1993 he made the monumental sculpture «Luna»

for the Auditorio Nacional. He received the Premio Nacional in the field of fine arts in 1987, and the Museo Morelense de Arte Contemporáneo in Cuernavaca bears his name.
