Joy Laville

Isle of Wight, England, 1923 – 2018. She came to Mexico in 1956 and settled in San Miguel de Allende, where she trained as a painter. In 2012 she received the Medalla Bellas Artes. In 2025 the Museo Nacional de la Estampa brought together 126 pieces — lithographs, silkscreens, sugar-lift aquatints and etchings among them — in «El mundo inmaterial. Joy Laville». Two years earlier, for her centenary, the Museo de Arte Moderno had devoted to her «Joy Laville. El silencio y la eternidad».
