János Vaszary

He was born in Kaposvár, Hungary, in 1867, and died in Budapest in 1939. He studied at the Munich Academy between 1887 and 1889, and in 1889 moved on to the Académie Julian in Paris. In Munich he was in contact with Simon Hollósy and his circle, which shaped his development; in Paris, the new currents of painting completed the formation of his style. From 1920 to 1932 he taught at the Hungarian Royal School of Fine Arts.
