Esteban Urbieta

Born in 1973 in Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca. He studied visual arts at the UABJO fine arts school between 1994 and 1998 and continued at the Rufino Tamayo workshop with painting, drawing and lithography; in 2000 he learned Japanese printmaking with Yasuhiko Miyazaki and lithography and woodcut with Shinzaburo Takeda, and in 2009 ceramics with Alejandro Santiago at the Los Zopilotes workshop. He works in mixed media on canvas, with a marine and natural imagery of boats, shoals of fish, sea horses and birds. He held the solo shows «Voces de un Crucero» (2002), «Muros de Juchitán» (2005) and «Aladas Imágenes» (2006), and took part in «Nueva Plástica Oaxaqueña» and the Andrés Henestrosa tribute at the Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños. He held a Young Creators grant from FECA Oaxaca in 2001.
