Casiano García Jarquín was born in 1950 in Huehuetán, in the municipality of Azoyú, on the Costa Chica of Guerrero. At twenty-two he left the fields, moved to Acapulco, worked as a labourer and began to paint; he is self-taught. His work returns again and again to landscapes of flowers and to the women who gather them. In 2008 he won first place in the «Poesía visual» exhibition of the 28th World Congress of Poets, in Acapulco, with «Valle y flores». In May 2023 the Museo del Fuerte de San Diego marked fifty years of his work with some twenty paintings dated between 1973 and 2023. He works in Acapulco and his painting circulates in Mexico, the United States, France, Holland and Germany.
