Born in Mexico City in 1959, into a musical household: his mother was a pianist and dancer, and his maternal grandfather the physician and tenor Alfonso Ortiz Tirado. He studied graphic design at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, contemporary dance and ballet at the London School of Contemporary Dance, and trained as a percussionist. He painted with Fred de Keijser and Angelo Foong, learned screenprinting with Simón Guerrero and etching with Corina Briceño; in 1989 he opened his wrought-iron sculpture workshop. He lived in Caracas, where he joined the Danzahoy company as dancer and choreographer and designed the set for «Claro de Luna» (2007). He returned to Mexico in 2010 and settled in Querétaro, where in 2012 he presented «Fragmentos de color» at the Centro Cultural Manuel Gómez Morín. He has exhibited in the United States, Uruguay, England, Israel, Panama, Guatemala and Spain.
