Amador Montes

He was born in Oaxaca in 1975. He studied graphic design at the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla and the Universidad Mesoamericana in Oaxaca, and completed his training with workshops in drawing, printmaking, painting and photography. Painting is his main medium. In 2015, during the Year of Mexico in the United Kingdom, his project «El muro» travelled to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, the Futures Gallery in Cardiff and the London School of Economics.

In 2019 he presented «Vestigios» at the Museo de las Culturas de Oaxaca, in the former convent of Santo Domingo. The series «El otro muro», devoted to migration, was shown in 2023 at the Juan Soriano Sculpture Garden and the Palace of Art in Kraków, Poland, and in 2025 at the Tallinn Botanic Garden. His work is held in the United Nations collection in New York and in collections in several countries.
